Today was my first day to meet with Pat, the fourteen year old daugther of one of the Thai language school teachers. I'm supposed to be teaching her English. In actuality, Pat's English is already pretty good. She has a fair amount of vocabulary. And what she doesn't know, I can make up for with my limited Thai. Like all language students (myself included), what Pat really needs is to just get talking. So when you think of me teaching English, don't think classroom, grammar, etc. Think of two girls sitting on a couch chatting it up.
But chatting it up with Pat can be a challenge. Why? Because she's a normal fourteen year old who doesn't get particularly excited about talking with adults. So pray for my time with Pat. Pray she would feel comfortable enough with me to talk...to share her very life. And as we share our lives with one another, pray she would see Christ in me and be drawn closer to Him!
